Latest Events.
Last week had a lot of nice activities to enjoy.
Ashlie got her cast off on Thursday. It healed well according to the x-rays. We had her keep her arm rested the first day and took it easy on the second day. She has been getting better at using her arm fully each day since then.
Thursday night, Aaron and I got to enjoy his Father's Day present by going to see Brian Regan live. Brian Regan is a comedian and we are some of his #1 fans. It was a really fun night. This is what Aaron had to say about the night: "So, Brian Regan was awesome! I'd say 95% new material. The encore of "Say Eight" was better than the DVD (I Walked on the Moon for you Brian Regan noobs). " This was part of Aaron's Facebook post about the evening.
Here is our only unblurry picture we got. Funny, funny guy.
On Saturday we went to a local farm that was part of a "Red Rooster Festival" which basically highlights local farms throughout the summer. Alia had taken an art class last spring and one of her pictures was on display at the farm.

The girls participated in some watercolor painting as one of the activities at the farm. Madelyn's ended up being a horse coming out of a "magical mist". Ashlie did a seahorse in the sea and Alia did a beautiful rose.

Then we went Strawberry and Raspberry picking. Yummy, Yummy! We enjoyed our Strawberry Shortcake today. It was so good!

Alia found a strawberry that looked like a triple strawberry. (Three strawberries hooked together.)

Another Critter
Well, we have one more animal to add to our list of wildlife sightings by our home. The newest one: Turtle.

So here's our list of animal sightings so far:
Hawks
Eagles
Blue Herons
Numerous birds: Red Winged Blackbirds, Goldfinches, Robins
Garter Snakes
Lots of frogs (including the adults and tadpoles that reside in our backyard pond.)
Weasels
Jack Rabbit
And we know there are moles, but they haven't been in our backyard anymore. Yeay!
Here's the little critter. My girls discovered him on the path outside our fence.

Happy Father's Day
I asked the girls some questions about their Daddy for Father's Day (I got this idea and some of the questions from one of my friend's blogs when she did it for her husband's birthday.) I thought it would be fun as a Father's Day post...here are their responses: (I asked all the girls these questions one by one so they didn't hear the other one's answers)
What is something your dad is good at?
Alia: Making me laugh.
Madelyn: Building and working on wire things.
Ashlie: Writing , he's sometimes writes about...something I don't know. (I was trying to figure out if she meant riding or writing so I said "Like writing with a pencil?" Ashlie: "Or a Pen").
What is daddy's favorite food?
Alia: I think Strawberries.
Madelyn: Peanut butter sandwiches.
Ashlie: Chicken.
How tall is dad?
Alia: 6 foot 4, right?
Madelyn: 3 feet, 1 foot.
Ashlie: This tall (holds up hand high in the air) Me: "how tall is that?" um...16 feet.
What does daddy do at work?
Alia: He designs the airplane's wires.
Madelyn: Do wire things.
Ashlie: He works on the airplanes.
What are three things you like to do with your dad?
Alia: Copy him, play tickle monster, joking with him.
Madelyn: I like sitting by him, I like racing him, and I like having a tickle fight with him.
Ashlie: Play tickle monster, watch him make things.
What makes your dad happy?
Alia: When I copy him, it makes him laugh.
Madelyn: When it's his birthday.
Ashlie: I don't know...silly things.
What makes your dad sad?
Alia: People fighting with each other.
Madelyn: Dad's sad? When he hears that someone is going to die.
Ashlie: I don't know.
What does he enjoy doing with our family?
Alia: Playing games.
Madelyn: Having Family Home Evening.
Ashlie: He likes doing Family Home Evening.
What was dad like when he was a kid?
Alia: I don't know. He liked to chase girls at his school.
Madelyn: Um...fun and nice.
Ashlie: Um...
What is something dad always says to you?
Alia: He just laughs.
Madelyn: Let's go have Family Home Evening.
Ashlie: I don't know...he says everything.
We sure love you Aaron! You're such a wonderful Dad!

Window Art
Grandma T. gave the girls some "window markers" . The girls quickly went to work adding some additional scenery to our window view.
Summer in the Field
I took these pictures before the eventful arm injuries.

**You have no idea what kind of nerves I had to overcome to walk out (in capris!) in this field with shoulder high, thick grass and knowing how many wildlife creatures live out there. The walk is also on matted grass so the ground presses down in places when you walk on it. I love the outdoors, but I still have some squeamishness about some critters or bugs crawling on me. My girls seem to have no fear. Madelyn has become a lot braver this summer about bugs and stuff. Alia loves all the snakes, bugs, frogs, etc. so Madelyn has learned to keep up with her and not be afraid.

Hot Pink!
Ashlie got her cast yesterday. It's hot pink!
She was a little concerned about the whole process. Especially since she was in the room when another guy was getting his cast sawed off with the special saw. It's a little unnerving to get something put on when you've already seen what's going to happen when they have to take it off. She was pretty brave though. The positioning of her arm for the x-rays wasn't painful this time, so that was nice.
The cast isn't slowing her down at all, she's back to running around and playing like normal.

Big scrape and fractured elbow.
Arms were the appendages of choice for injuries last week. Friday, Alia fell from a tree and scraped her arm up really badly. Saturday, Ashlie took a tumble down the stairs and fractured her elbow.
Ashlie with her splint and sling. (We'll get the cast later this week.)

Picnic
We were just about to leave for a family picnic when Ashlie fell and fractured her elbow. She did not want to see a doctor because she "just wanted to go on the picnic". So we told her we would go on the picnic after we saw the doctor.
Ashlie got a good nap on the drive on the way. Then we enjoyed some family time at the park and got to go on a short hike to see some beautiful waterfalls. Ashlie was a trooper.
