Silly jokes and funny tricks...

Ashlie's "chubby motorcycle ride" joke

Alia and Madelyn doing twin jumping jacks.
When the girls start getting restless I usually tell them to do some jumping jacks or handstands or some sort of trick. As you can see at the end of this video I probably should have had them do 100 to get all their energy out!

Exciting news...

We're expecting a new baby in November 2010.

We are excited and happy. The girls are overjoyed to get a new baby in the house. We always wait to find out if it's a boy or girl until it's born; and yes, we'll be sticking with tradition this time too. We look forward to seeing if it's blue or pink this time.

Apple tree...

So if you remember last year that Ashlie sprouted an apple seed and hoped it would grow into a big apple tree some day. It looks like she might get her wish. I think it will be so neat if we get apples from it someday.
Still growing and thriving...

The latest in spring fashion...

Ashlie discovered recently that pond grass is excellent for making these stunning grass accessories. They complement any spring outfit. They are also very versatile, depending on the length picked you can have a crown, necklace, bracelet or ring. Look for them in outdoor fashion shows in your area.

Saturday's happenings

Last Saturday while I was at a Relief Society meeting, the girls went and had some adventures with Dad. First they went to Lowe's to build their own planter boxes. Ashlie told me lately that she is interested in "studying roots", so I was excited to see that these "see it grow" planter boxes were being offered for the classes.
After Lowe's they got to go have a picnic and then watch some mini hydro boat races at a nearby lake. The weather was drizzling in the morning and I was saying that I hoped it would clear up in time for their picnic and boat races. Aaron said "we'll just bring umbrellas and watch in the rain. We're Washingtonians, we're not afraid of rain." So that's what they did. The picnic ended up being a car picnic, but they braved the rain and watched the boat races.

After we got home the rain had stopped and the sun came out. Alia decided to build a habitat for the plastic animals in our backyard. She weaved the roof out of stiff pond grass and then built the roof on top. Here is her creation...
Here's the up close view
The other girls got into the building habitats of their own.
Madelyn built a basic grass "pig hut"
Ashlie decided on the condominium style housing for her animals.
The girls finished off the day dancing in the warm spring rainshower.

Art projects

We recently got some nice books from our library about art projects and drawing techniques for children. The first one is Ed Emberley's Picture Pie book. The book is about making pictures out of circles or parts of circles. Here are the projects my girls made from that book.

Alia's peacock
Madelyn's cardinal, ladybug, toucan and blue jay.
Ashlie got her inspiration from a book called How to draw pets by Christine Smith.

This is "Lucky" from 101 Dalmations
Ashlie's chickens and chicks.
Ashlie drew this unicorn later in the day. She was so proud of it.

Happy Easter!

Our Easter Bunny always comes on the Saturday so that on Sunday we can focus more on the reason we celebrate Easter - the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Here's the girls discovering their Easter baskets...
We also get to enjoy listening to General Conference this weekend. My parents sent the girls their own "Conference Kits" that had activities to help listen to conference. They loved them!
We're looking forward to tomorrow when we get to go watch conference with Aaron's parents and get to spend time with them. We sure are thankful for the wonderful families we have!

We hope you all have a very Happy Easter!

Enjoying the spring days...

I told my girls once that spring is the season that can't make up it's mind. One day it's cold and one day it's warm. When those warm days come we make sure and take advantage of them!

Sidewalk chalk is a favorite activity of my girls

Ashlie decided to be all purple one day so we had to get a picture of her by the purple Azalea bush.
Spring also means the frogs are back...

And of course when the weather is warm we love to roll down our "hill" of a backyard. We're definitely going to have to get a slip and slide for this summer.
