Things they've said/things they've done...

A few days ago Alia was showing me the dress she made for her barbie doll. As she was looking admiringly at her handiwork, she made this observation to me: "mom, I think people should be more like barbie dolls, they are always smiling. Even when someone throws them on the floor they keep smiling."

We know Ashlie has been paying attention in science class because she makes molecule models out of her food. Taking two small parts of her sandwich, she made one piece circle around the other piece, then she turns to me and says "look mom it's an electron".

In swimming class, Madelyn touched the bottom of the 12' deep end using a metal pole as a help.

Christmas...catchup

Soooooo....I've been neglecting my blog lately. Our computer went through a difficult time around the first of January and needed to have it's innards replaced. And I'm talking all vital organs for the guy. Thankfully my husband is a fantastic computer surgeon and got him all back in order and faster than ever.

So due to that fact and a few others like (back to school, swimming lessons, nice weather, planning for girl's camp, getting back into having good menus and yummy meals, to name a few) I'm really behind on my blog posting. So here's some catch up from Dec.

Christmas was great for us. I did a lot of sewing this year for different presents and that was a lot of fun. We enjoyed time spent together as a family, time with extended family, doing baking and crafts together and of course attending the many parties/activities that happen around Christmas time.

Here are some pictures of Christmas morning...

Alia showing off her new sleeping bag.
All the girls got one and have used them a lot for having their "sleepovers" in Alia's room. We're looking forward to using them more on our family camping trips this summer

The first discoveries.
Madelyn is wearing her new bath robe that I sewed. That was one of my sewing projects. Robes for all the girls.

This was before Christmas, but one of our traditions...gingerbread. Yummy, Yummy.
After Christmas we got to see some of my relatives for our annual get-together. We had a lot of fun getting to see them and getting to have them come see us in our new house.

First Fun Run

The girls chased a "turkey" this last Saturday in our community's local fun run called the Turkey Chase. The girls were each in a different run according to age and got to chase this funny guy dressed up in a turkey suit.

The kindergarten line up.
It was freezing that day so I had the girls put their t-shirts over their coats. (I know not really official running gear, but hey they stayed warm)
Ashlie is in the purple hood.
And they're off...

Madelyn halfway around the field.
Alia on her third and final lap.
Alia had to push herself for this run. She came in 2nd to last (out of 6 kids) ahead of a girl who walked for a little part of the run. Alia said "I saw that girl walking so I knew I could be 2nd to last if I kept on running." I think at that point she wanted to walk herself but she kept going.

At the end of the run there was a drawing for prizes. Alia won a "little turkey" (aka cornish hen) She loved it.

Ashlie's new climbing skill.

Ashlie recently learned how to climb up the door frames in our house. She was so proud of herself. Yelling: "mom, mom, come look" before she dropped down.
Madelyn, a veteran climber shows off her ability to climb all the way to the top.
