Aloha and Howdy

Alia and Ashlie celebrated their birthdays recently. Which meant a birthday party on Friday and one on Saturday. They both were a lot of fun!

Alia's was a Hawiian theme - complete with leis and grass skirts. (Unfortunately I didn't get a picture with all the girls in their grass skirts. Argg...it's hard being the party organizer and the photographer as well.)

The first activity was decorating these flip flops.
Here are Alia's finished ones...
Then the girls enjoyed yummy pina coladas and lunch with ham & cheese sandwiches, chips and fruit kabobs that Alia put together herself.
Then the girls had some fun in the sun with water balloons, wet sponges and the slip and slide.
Then it was cake and ice cream time.

Ashlie's party was a pony theme.
The girls started out by coloring their own pony for the apple game later.
Then they had some "oat" sack races
After that the girls lined up to feed their horses "apples". The apples were red water balloons that the girls raced to take up to their horses. Then they would stomp on the water balloon to pop it or "feed" it to their horse.
After that the girls each got a turn tossing some horseshoes.
Then we had our lunch which was mac and cheese (which we said was hay), apples and carrots with juice.

After lunch each girl got to gallop around on her own stick horse.
Then we had cake and ice cream
Alia and Madelyn finished off the party by providing horsey rides
