We went hiking to a place called Boulder Lake.
However, we never saw the lake.
Why? you ask... well, something about the trail being changed (different from what the guidebook said) to include a 3.5 mile addition along an old gravel road. This lovely road contained 70 (believe me, we counted them) dug out culverts to walk up and down, up and down, up and down...okay you get the idea. Needless to say it added a lot of extra time to our hike. Time that prevented us from making it to our destination before we needed to head back.
Though we didn't reach our destination, the waterfalls, river, reservoir and beautiful foliage we saw along the way was enough to content us. At least for now.
Happy to be outdoors.
Matt loves being outside. It's still pretty cushy for him to go hiking. I'm sure he'll love using those strong little legs of his though once he figures out the walking.
Three adventurers
We went with Aaron's parents. It's so fun to share these outings with others.
On the trail
And here we go again...up, down, up, down, up, down...70 times.
The lovely reservoir
The waterfalls
Whew, all this hiking is wearing me out...time to relax

What beautiful pictures--Washington is such a pretty state! Fun to see Gail and Dave (and everyone else too)
Only you would count all 70 culverts!
You have such a math mind!
Love the pictures! You have such cute kiddos!
I'm glad you weren't pulling handcarts...but Alia would make it.
