Once a year the
Paccar company opens up its testing facility to the public. Our home teacher informed us about this and gave us the inside scoop on the nearby ice cream place with homemade waffle cones.
At Paccar we saw full size diesel truck parts being tested for cold weather environments - a diesel truck cab in a giant refrigerator with snow and ice on it. Cabs and truck parts doing shake tests. A cab with trailer on a road simulator complete with bumps and jolts. Talked with engineers about their testing processes. Saw three giant 3D printers in action. It was fascinating.

Oops, I said "smile", he knew it was time to look tough.

The UW engineering display was Nathaniel's favorite.

After paccar we had a picnic lunch at Padilla bay and watch the kite surfers, then drove past the tulip fields at Roozengaarde. I can't believe we didn't take a picture as we passed! We had our sights set on the ice cream I guess? :)

These scoops were about as big as a bowl of ice cream - the flavors: Aaron - huckleberry with cookies & cream, Me - lemon meringue pie, Alia - death by chocolate, Madelyn - rainbow sherbet, Ashlie - peppermint, Matthew - maple nut, Nathaniel - assorted samples from those was willing to share (but mostly lemon meringue pie).
