Big scrape and fractured elbow.

Arms were the appendages of choice for injuries last week. Friday, Alia fell from a tree and scraped her arm up really badly. Saturday, Ashlie took a tumble down the stairs and fractured her elbow.

Madelyn's arms are injury free!

Picnic

We were just about to leave for a family picnic when Ashlie fell and fractured her elbow. She did not want to see a doctor because she "just wanted to go on the picnic". So we told her we would go on the picnic after we saw the doctor.

Ashlie got a good nap on the drive on the way. Then we enjoyed some family time at the park and got to go on a short hike to see some beautiful waterfalls. Ashlie was a trooper.

This neat old bridge is right by the waterfalls, built from Chuckanut sandstone.

All done!!!

I have finally finished the quilt I've been making for Alia's bed. Here is the finished product. I've learned a lot during the construction process and I'm pleased with how it turned out.
Alia really likes it too!
Next project...curtains to match...pillows (on which Alia gets to learn how to quilt)...then quilts for the other girls...my sewing machine is going to be kept busy.

Lovely weather

We've had some super nice weather lately, so here's what we did...

Alia and Ashlie made me some beautiful wildflower bouqets.

On Saturday, we went to Deception Pass with Aaron's Family. On this outing we also got to meet his brother's beautiful fiance for the first time. We're excited to have her in the family and really excited that they will get to live up here for awhile.

The Fam
My girls and their cousins exploring the shore.
Even though the water was really cold, my girls still had a blast splashing in the water. We were all glad we brought a change of clothes for them.

Yeay! I got a picture with my favorite guy.
Ashlie decided this was a whale and went for a ride. When I asked her what kind of whale it was she replied "a blue whale" I said "I didn't think blue whales had dorsal fins" then I said "do you know what a dorsal fin is?" she replied "oh it was just one of the flukes."

Aaron and I have sort of worked it out that I am the "people" photographer and he is the "nature" photographer. Here's a nice one from his end of the photography.

Little tiny seed...

Since we have some gardening space now, we have been planting little things here and there.

Every time Ashlie eats an apple she saves the seeds to plant someday. She's somewhat of a little Johnny Appleseed since she wants to plant all these seeds where ever she can. (Her vision is an orchard in our backyard and an orchard covering the field behind our house.) I let her sprout two of her seeds and they are starting to come up.

On Sunday I found myself looking at this tiny seed sprout amazed that this tiny little seed could someday be a big apple tree producing apples itself. That Sunday we had heard a talk about faith as a seed, and looking at this little sprout I thought what a wonderful little miracle.
