Today we went and saw the Reptile Man. This gentleman lives north of us and owns a reptile zoo. He shows his reptiles at various community events. We got to see some of his snakes, turtles and his alligator.

Madelyn meeting the alligator up close.

During the show, the Reptile Man showed us that if a person pushes gently on top of an alligator's eyes the alligator's blood pressure drops quickly causing the alligator to faint or "go to sleep" as the Reptile Man put it. He said that this is not a good tactic to try if you are being chased by a big crocodile or alligator. He said it doesn't work unless the alligator is calm.

The girls also got to see and touch the 7 foot long boa constrictor.

After the Reptile Man, we went to the library for an activity time all about butterflies. The girls made these cute caterpillar puppets at the activity. They were fun to play with on the walk home.
